Vickers diamond indenter feature DAkkS calibration certificates according to DIN EN ISO 6507-2 and/or ASTM E92.
The line of conjunction between opposite faces of the diamond pyramid are measured with the latest technologies.
The line appears due to the grinding process.
From that parameter, the usability of the indenter is determined by categorising them by the length of the line.
Mitutoyo offers Vickers pyramid indenters usable from HV0,001 (junction line 0,5µm), HV0,2 (junction line 1,0µm) and HV5 (junction line 2,0µm), at different price levels.
The values include uncertainty of measurement. Therefore it is impossible to judge the line of a Micro Vickers indenter with a conventional light microscope.
